About us
About us
Califon First Aid Squad is an all volunteer, non profit, life saving organization whose primary mission is to provide Basic Life Support to the residents of Califon and surrounding areas. With over 65 years of dedicated service we currently operate out of our station at 107 Bank Street. We operate two Basic Life Support Ambulances as well as four Emergency Responder Bicycles - our Bike Team. We provide a free service to all Califon residents and all who pass through our small town.
Most of our members are Emergency Medical Technicians, certified by the NJ Department Of Health. EMTs have completed the necessary 120 -190 hour class which teaches them everything about Pre-Hospital Care from administering emergency medical medications to bandaging and splitting, to treating heart attacks and strokes to childbirth and dealing with serious injuries from motor vehicle accidents.
We also have (6) members who are certified NJ Emergency Medical
Responders. This EMR certifications requires 40 hours of classwork and allows them to provide immediate lifesaving care and assist our EMTs with on scene stabilization, lifting and transport. Additionally, we have six (6) dedicated Ambulance Attendants who can provide the same assistance. These Drivers have completed the 8 hour NJ certified Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator course and have 10 hours of behind the wheel training.
